Heaps Good Friends are a charming Adelaide due of heaps good friends with a heaps good story. Quirky vocal powerhouse Emma Fradd met synth-juggernaut Nick O’Connor in prison. Specifically, the Old Gladstone Gaol, and even more specifically, at a youth arts program. Emma was attending as a moody teen who would rather be at home playing on her Nintendo 64. Nick was working as a music facilitator with a penchant for recording groovy synth sounds in prisons. Fast forward a few years, a few overseas flights and a few different musical projects, Nick and Emma inevitably reunited and decided to start writing music together in 2016. It didn’t take long for their debut single ‘Let’s Hug Longer’ to capture the hearts of the nation with its unpredictably wholesome lyrical content and its infectious instrumental. The track swiftly flew to high rotation on triple j, becoming the 11th most played song on the youth broadcaster in 2017 and earning the then-duo an Unearthed slot at Groovin’ The Moo
