Heavy Brown Mullet have been playing around the traps in North QLD as a cover band for several years now. In recent times they have been adding more and more original songs to their set. A live favourite of theirs is the track “Deflated Passion” We are going to let guitarist/singer Laurie Rojahn explain this one hmmmkay? “Years ago when we were a 5 piece band, I walked into band practice much earlier than usual one night and discovered a member of the band, who shall remain nameless, in a very compromising position with an inflatable doll. Tears were shed and many excuses and apologies were made as other band members began arriving. Upon closer inspection, it became very clear that this doll was in rough condition and had been going down. Of course the excuse that he didn’t actually own it but had hired it from the town adult toy library didn’t really help his position but we sat down for a band meeting to discuss the situation maturely. A decision was made that as a very politically correct band, we had our musical futures and our own self respect to consider. That night, we confiscated the doll and sacked the band member involved, and so began the mission to document this potential career ending state of affairs. The song ‘Deflated Passion’ came out of this experience and sat on the ‘shelf’ for many years until the timing was right. It made its first appearance at ‘The Parkview Tavern’ in Gordonvale and has remained a fan favourite ever since as people, especially men, just seem to be able to identify with this song!! And so…. because of popular demand, a recording was needed and…. Thank you Todd at Pandamonium Records! Now the only mystery in this whole saga is, ‘Who did end up with that doll’?? I’m still waiting for an answer boys!”
