Helen Starkie is a singer-songwriter from Sydney Australia. Her music has an original contemporary pop/rock sound with strong heartfelt vocals. She began her musical journey as a member of short lived amateur vocal trio called Destiny in 1975 when she was about 13 years old. In 1982 her friends’ band was looking for a female singer and she was asked to audition for them, this saw her join her first covers and original band performing as front woman and back-up singer. Throughout the 80’s and 90’s she performed in most pubs and clubs around Sydney and the Central Coast of NSW with original and covers bands. Helen took a short hiatus from live performances for a few years to concentrate on writing and recording songs as a solo independent artist. In 2011 she released her first original song titled “I Don’t Want To”. Since then she has recorded and released a self titled EP and 5 other singles. She continues to perform as guest singer for musician friends occasionally recording backup vocals for them but currently is focused on her writing projects.
