The Twenty 20s are a six piece band, based in Melbourne Australia, a collection of the city's finest band leaders across Zydeco, Cajun, Blues and Roots, Americana, Jump Swing, Jazz and Big Band genres. Using their most obtuse references they revisit retro songs from luminaries such as Buddy Holly, The Buzzcocks and Devo alongside classics crooned by Peggy Lee, Julie London and June Christy. Their debut album is the culmination of two years work, with vintage voiced Hetty Kate casting nets into her vinyl collection and offering songs up to the band for their bent arrangements.. each tune is set within it's own mini-movie, creating a vignette of feeling, temperature and emotion. Released independently during the hot northern hemisphere summer of 2011, this album is already creating ripples among radio DJs and reviewers...
