Hewie is the solo project of Brisbane musician Daniel Huey who recently finished up the 3 year collaborative effort with Jackalpac. Throughout their 3 years Jackalpac release 2 E.P’s ‘Porcelain plastic proportions’, in 2009 and ‘Satellites’, which was released in December of 2010 as a free download at www.jackalpac.com. Both E.P’s showed Daniel’s unique song-writing ability. In 2011 the Band members went their separate ways and now Daniel continues his journey as a solo artist under the name ‘Hewie’. Hewie still has that distinct Jackalpac flavour and brings his influences like Jeff Buckley, Radiohead and Augie March along for the ride. His vocal style is expansive and expressive, while his music brings jazz and garage rock into a new melting pot. Forever trying to tear apart the pop song traditions Hewie is a welcomed inclusion into an already progressive Brisbane music scene.
