Hollie Joy’s first performances happened during morning sessions at the West-Brisbane Bowls Club her mum worked at when she was little. The instrument: an ancient upright piano, and the audience: a devoted and captive room of retired women. When the Bowls Club got knocked down to make way for a block of units, that piano moved to her family home, where it still stands today, the catalyst of a flourishing musical career. Turning in a new direction with her latest release 'Would You Like Me More' the slice of feminist sad-girl rock is coming raw, straight from Joy’s heart to your ears. You'll be drawn in by a sweet, peachy intro and kicked in the teeth by a drum-fuelled chorus. From there Hollie has contained to entrance, supported fiercely by a band of friends and familiar faces from the Meanjin music scene. From a second-hand piano all the way to an Aussie tour – keep your eyes and ears peeled, because Hollie Joy isn’t set to slow down anytime soon.'
