Sydney band Hoolahan announce their brand-new single Zircon Ring – out 17 July. Having spent their formative years on the Ivy League label, the band have signed for an undisclosed sum with Scenic Drive Records – and will release their 3rd album Bay of Chance in September. “Eyes are wide… you took advantage while his mind was tired… he’ll never know”. The Hoolahan hallmarks are all here – chiming, interwoven guitars and lush harmonies. Clattering Hacienda beats, slithering bass and swirling Moog synths – like dreampop that flies by in a smoke-machine haze. The track was produced by Tim Kevin and David Orszaczky and mixed by Wayne Connolly. Backstory: Songwriters and childhood friends Tim Kevin and David Orszaczky grew up in Canberra, swapping tapes and learning guitar via the pause/play button. Moving to Sydney they formed Hoolahan with Harry Roden and Neil Bateman. The band’s debut King Autumn is now hailed as a “lost classic” - upon release it earned glowing reviews and national airplay: 'As good an advertisement for Sydney's guitar rock scene as you could want' Sydney Morning Herald ★★★★½ 'Stamp Hoolahan’s debut album “Future Classic”' Juice Magazine ★★★★ The band toured nationally, playing the Big Day Out and performing alongside Go-Betweens, The Vines, Ash and Swervedriver. Tim has since played and produced with Midnight Oil’s Jim Moginie, Knievel, The Apartments, Holly Throsby and Youth Group. In 2017 the band returned with 2nd album Casuarina – again recorded with ARIA-winning producer Wayne Connolly. 'Hoolahan place the emphasis on songwriting… bouncing confidently between densely textured bliss-pop, psychedelic experimentation and alt-country twang' Rolling Stone 'It’s pop… which sneaks up on you after a time. Ah yes, you say to yourself on the 5th or 7th listen – with a note of surprise - that song, that song is really, really good”' Bernard Zuel
