The crux of Howlaround was formed way back when Tim and Paul first crossed paths in 2005, thanks to their mutual appreciation of a particular kind of rock music that effectively rendered them lepers within the single-sex confines of Salesian College in Chadstone.Those cold winter nights (and poorly-timed summer uniforms) were made a little more bearable when the two realised they could play music to keep warm and stave off hypothermia. Though initially a classically-trained Mark Hoppus impersonator, the teenaged Tim jumped instrumental ship to guitar after concluding that singing while strumming a six-string would really stick it to 'The Man' - also, don't frontmen usually make more money...? Paul, however, kept true to his drumming dreams because it enabled him to hit big things really hard with sticks and make a whole lotta noise. It also helped that he was pretty good at it.
