Recently releasing her debut album at Woodford Folk Festival this year, Mel is set to tour the East Coast Mel Dobra with ‘Sacred Tides’ this February and March. After 5 years of travelling globally as a support harmonium & vocal artist in the kirtan/yoga scene, Mel has captured her touring experiences in a unique style of acoustic world folk, with an emphasis on sacred chant. In collaboration with guitarist Josh Arent, coming from a background in Flamenco and traditional Gypsy music, they have spent the last year writing guitar-driven melodic compositions that are both haunting and uplifting. Mel's album is backed by soft angelic harmonies, soaring flute & brooding violins, alongside driving guitar, bass & percussion. With arrangements drawing on prayer and mantra, blending the devotional with world folk and pop influences, her music is accessible to all ages and ideal for reflection, contemplation and nurturing, encouraging the listener to explore the inner life.
