It’s not every day you see a standing, lead-singing, punk-rock’n’roll drummer - but then it’s not every day you see Human Torch. Churning out pummelling bass-heavy dirges and incendiary guitar lines that would have the likes of Motorhead and The Stooges nodding approvingly, the three-piece has been setting Sydney stages alight since 2001. With a clutch of self-released EPs under their belt and a rising live reputation, line-up changes and overseas adventures saw the band take a break in mid-2005. Come 2006, with the addition of Matt Levey on bass (formerly of The Breakout), and a swag of new tunes, Human Torch are back in action in a big way.
