IACOMUS (pronounced "Yakomus") is the stage name of singer/songwriter James Derksen, Iacomus being the western Latin translation of James. His style is heavily influenced by many traditional musical genres from around the world, with many "Old Albion" references in his songs and music. James' musical childhood in the sleepy sea-side town of Hervey Bay, Queensland has also had a large influence on his music. James was classically trained on Cello by Leading Bassist with many world orchestras, Don Writer. His Jazz Saxophone training with Lex Wyatt his also meant his respect for different musical genres is vast, leading to wide variances in Iacomus' musical style. Iacomus' songs invoke soulful feelings and take you to another place, with many songs containing more than one meaning. His songs generally follow a story line with characters, but sometimes are purely questions of which are yet to be answered. If you like deep and meaningful lyrics with easy listing music, IACOMUS is here
