Idgie is a 14 year old singer/songwriter from Perth, Western Australia. Still in the throes of high school, Idgie escapes the chaos of the school yard by penning lyrics with soul and intent with a skill well beyond her years. She draws on influences from a range of musical artists and genres including Vance Joy, Bright Eyes, Angus & Julia Stone and Karen O. The best way to describe Idgie’s music would be to combine alternative rock with folk and indie with a twist of country. Using the guitar, ukulele or keyboard she performs her individual brand of music around the local community, on stages in Perth and also on the busy streets of the city busking for coin. Idgie takes pleasure in seeing women empowered, writing their own songs and taking on the world and attempts to convey that through her song writing. Idgie is an Aboriginal Australian, belonging to the Kamilaroi country from the Namoi and Hunter Valley districts of NSW. It was a proud moment when she recently shared the stage
