Portuguese born then raised in the back streets of the Inner West, Ines embodies all the sensual exoticisms of a European goddess and all the blatant upfront no-bullshit characteristics of a people who descended from thieves and cutthroats. Music schooled Inês in a unique way – sucking all the knowledge from rapper ex-boyfriends and insomnia fuelled ‘Rage’ marathons her own offerings are hard to place firmly in one genre, though she has been compared to the rumbling soul melodies and diary-like lyrics of Winehouse, Badu & SZA peppered with hints of Nina Simone & Prince. Her live band brings the best of the Aussie modern jazz and future soul tastiness to the gumbo with shows that are raw & dependant on mood, she gives of herself in such a sensual and unique way it almost feels intrusive to watch.
