The signature sound of iubar project is story-driven ambient music, crafted using a blend of analogue and digital instrumentation, and incorporating field recordings. The project’s origins date back to 2009, when Martin’s high school friend from eastern Poland, Jarek Binkowski, recorded multiple electric guitar drones and riffs that became the foundation for iubar’s first compositions. In live performances, the act utilises a range of mobile music-making technologies and site-specific audience sampling techniques developed by Martin through his performances in Poland and Australia. Several tracks from iubar's debut album 'Survival Tactics' have earned critical acclaim. 'Empathy in Action' and 'The Last One' received two Best Music Awards in 2021 at the Shoot 4 Earth Worldwide Film Competition and the Global Short Film Awards in Cannes for their use in the short film Earth. The track 'Survival Coda' was awarded Best Music at the Green Philosophy Film Festival in 2022. iubar project’s philosophically charged music is an ode to resistance and hope, inviting listeners to confront the harsh realities of a world in crisis and glimpse a possible future where survival is only an option. Through its evocative sonic landscapes, it serves as a call to action and a testament to the human spirit’s capacity for resilience and change.
