JØNØ is the stage moniker of one Jonathan Chang, a Singapore-born, Sydney-based musician. Raised in six distinct cities spanning three continents, he is globalisation personified, and an expert cultural chameleon. Looking in the mirror presents JØNØ with two faces — in Australia (where he is), he's the token Asian; in Asia (where he's from), he's the token 'Australian'. This makes him a walking, talking identity crisis unfolding in real-time. JØNØ's inspirations are as diverse as his upbringing and playlists; they can jump from Metallica to Mozart, Coltrane to Coldplay, Linkin Park to LANY, Tycho to Tech N9ne, Sondheim to State Champs. He indulges in smart philosophy and dumb memes, science fiction and literary non-fiction, street poetry and renowned prose. His primary artistic lane is lyrically conscious hip-hop with a message of substance, as that was the music he first fell in love with on the streets of San Francisco. A Master of creative writing (no literally, that's his master's degree), he walks with a loud, introverted mind and runs with an equally loud extroverted heart, all while still learning how to 'human' in an ever-evolving metamorphic world.
