Developed in the Wellington scene and based in Auckland, queer artist Jack Panther uses his craft to blend tones of melancholy with pop. Panther spent much of his youth with his headphones in, listening to Sky Ferreira and writing angsty poetry. Jack credits varied writing influences from Arctic Monkeys to Lykke Li to Omar Apollo and prides himself in his mixture of noir, candid, cool pop that flows through melodies and rhythms. Panther’s most recent single premiered on Rolling Stone Australia, describing SKI LIFT 001 as ‘one of the most hard-hitting tracks you’ll hear all year’. In late 2021 Panther teased the first two singles, If I Was and Feels Right from his forthcoming sophomore EP ‘why don’t you come over?’. When discussing his new alt-pop EP Jack writes “It showcases such a different side to me, one that feels kind of badass. Throughout the process of writing the project I was listening to such confident, self-assured music and it rubbed shoulders with me I guess."
