Self-preservation has always been important for Jade Empress. Over the last 18 months working as a frontline doctor in remote Australia, she naturally turned to songwriting as a retreat from reality. She counts the invaluable experience of taking part in Ben Folds’ 2021 songwriting intensive workshop as a pivotal moment in her songwriting journey, spending invaluable time discussing writing with Ben and other artists. Her debut single, Golden Hours, features her heartfelt, powerful vocals, and presents an ode to commitment-phobia where the primary goal is not to run away, but to chase an endless sunset. Golden Hours is the start of what you’ll come to expect from Jade Empress in 2022, with three more singles scheduled for release this year. Jade’s writing music that’s full of heart, with each song as full of reflective duality as is her life – sexy yet sweet, playful yet seriously introspective, wistful and nostalgic yet endlessly curious about what lies over the next horizon.
