The musicians who form Jagged Colour Collision met while attending Ipswich Grammar School, a boys-only public school in Queensland, Australia. Shaw and Mulcahy had been schoolmates from primary school, and met Conor Hill and Alex Barnett in 2005 when starting senior school. In 2006 they formed the band, "Jagged Colour Collision", the name being a product of one of Barnett's dreams. Although nowadays a very structured band, Barnett has admitted that: "the first few sessions we had no idea. We jumped straight into originals, completely cut the bullshit, and produced god awful songs. I was on keys at that stage and had no idea about music composition, It was anything goes... real fun though!" Instrument rotations ensued, and Barnett was placed on rhythm guitar and vocals, Shaw on Lead Guitar, Hill on Bass and Keyboards and Mulcahy on Drums.
