James Brook has been playing his style of folk punk music for many years. He has toured extensively in Europe and Australia, self releasing several albums and EPs. In Europe his band Ecowar are an established touring anarcho punk act. His style swings from almost purist folk story telling to electric guitar based activist anthems. His new album Yandoit, is released in 2025. Named after the place it was written on. Yandoit is a Dja Dja Wurrung word meaning travel. The album is inspired by his time in countries around the world and down time in Australia. From war torn Ukraine, to Africa and the work of anti poaching rangers. From Peru being locked down on a ship during the pandemic. To songs written during times of sanctuary, in the country around Castlemaine, where the mood of the Australian bush soothed memories and heartbreaks. A blend of folk, Australiana and edgy alternative politics.
