Soothing, yet visceral, James Germain’s lyrics show more of an acute approach towards musical narrative. His songs are more acoustic short stories, juxtaposing intimate imagery with abstract metaphors. Often performing live as the ensemble James Germain & the Grey Gray Days, fans have often compared them to likes of the Weakerthans and Neil Young with Crazy Horse. Focusing more on bare-bones songwriting without getting lost in the current movement of throw-back rugged farm songs, their upcoming four-song EP, “Criminal Heart,” lends itself well as both a camp fire sing-along and rainy day ambience. “Criminal Heart” was recorded at Bear Creek Studio in Woodinville, WA, with engineer Jerry Streeter (The Lumineers) and UK Producer Brad Kohn (Pendelum). James Germain has appropriately shared the bill with talented bands Lucero, The Honorary Title, The Young Evils, Noah Gundersen, & The Lighthouse and the Whaler,
