If there was ever anyone gonna take over from the Young brothers - this guy is it! James van Hest is a young New Zealand born Rock n Roll Artist based in Sydney Australia. Inspired by AC/DC his whole life, he wants to continue what Angus and Malcolm Young started with AC/DC by keeping the Rock n Roll alive. James’ music is infectious, guitar driven, good time Rock and Roll - the type that you thought people didn’t write anymore. But thankfully he does, say his followers! James is an insanely talented multi instrumentalist and song writer. He was born with a rock n roll name and music in his blood. James was first introduced to the world of hard rock in 2003. One day that year, before he could walk, he was crawling around and AC/DC came on the TV. He quickly crawled over to the coffee table, pulled himself up and started rocking! From then on he studied AC/DC intensely and made it his mission to be the next generation of rock n roll! He started playing drums at 3 years, guitar at 7 and began writing songs and designing album covers at the age of 5. He writes and records all his own music in the AC/DC toe tappin’, head bangin’, classic rock style. The sound is old school, timeless Rock n Roll made with passion for getting it just right. James carefully perfects intense solos on lead guitar; strong, hooking, punch in the face riffs on rhythm guitar, creative bass lines, ball breaking drums and hard core vocals. With his strong song writing ability, the clever lyrics tell stories that a lot of people can relate to and make you want to sing along - even while you’re driving, no matter who’s watching! This music is not pretending or trying to be something it isn’t. It has so much drive, power and electricity and brings such a great adrenalin rush that it’s impossible to sit still. James is also very popular on social media for his covers of AC/DC songs where he plays all the parts to perfection. On the weekends he busks as Angus Young down at Circular Quay, Sydney, using his covers as the backing tracks and playing the lead guitar live whilst spinning on the brick floor and jumping off things exactly the way Angus does. James is well known around the world for this. Some have likened him to a modern day Angus Young. At 17 he released his first EP “Outta Control” and the same year was the first album “System Overload”. In 2022 at the age of 19, inspired by the need to “Stick It” to the main stream bullshit in life, “Stick It” the second album was released containing the popular songs “Keep The Rock ‘N” Roll Alive”, “Devil’s Shot” and of course “Stick It”! And get this… there are currently another 5 albums in the vault! James follows the same writing process as the Youngs. Whenever a killer riff comes into his head he will record it and add it to his collection. He then imagines how the song will sound and gradually adds the other parts until it’s perfect.
