Growing up in the small coastal town of Corindi Beach, Jamila was drawn to every creative outlet available to her. Dance, musical theatre, performance. But it wasn’t until her mentors pushed her towards music that she realised her potential as a songwriter. Her move to the big city at fresh 18 was the catalyst for entering into the industry and is a topic of discussion in many of her songs. Jamila began as a professionally trained dancer before injury took her away from performing and led her to try her hand at a university degree. Whilst her initial degree in arts and education may not have been the right fit, the university campus was where Jamila first met her producer for her debut tracks and gave her the push to release her own music. Now, 1 year after entering the industry Jamila has a supporting band and is playing as much as she can around the Sydney music scene, sharing her new indie rock/pop sound inspired by the likes of Phoebe Bridgers, Spacey Jane, Thomas Headon & Clairo.
