Jane & the Roses are an alternative rock group based in Melbourne, Victoria. Their work is built around the songwriting of Luke Gray, a Sri-Lankan/Australian musician and filmmaker who was born and raised in Darwin, NT. Completing the band's lineup are drummer Jacob Linnett (Luke's lifelong friend, another Darwin native) and producer Josh Bills on electric guitar, bass and keys. J&TR's first release, 'I Can't Stop Loving You' is a lush, haunting ballad that invokes the drama and magic of newfound love. It's best listened to with a bottle of red wine, or while slow dancing in the living room with your beloved. Their follow up, 'Sugar' is a bittersweet full band jam that laments the ending of a relationship, the inevitability of taking a lover for granted and the ways we fail to show up for each other and ourselves. Jane and Rose are the middle names of Luke's two nieces.
