What is Jean-Paul George music? Music that says, “hey, look at that!” then runs away. Music that doesn’t want to subvert the dominant paradigm, but convert the dominant paradigm. Dig? Music that says “lady, what’s your name? Can I walk beside you in the rain?” Music that questions the current revival in 80s New Wave. But music that’s happy to hear you say, “but I love the current revival in 80s New Wave.” Music that then tells you to “fuck off”. Music that’s more about the destination than the journey. Music that hates ‘journeys’, but doesn’t mind the band ‘Journey’. Complex music Music that says, “hey, we’re about the same age, wanna beer?” Music to make Ben Lee angry Music that shags Claire Daines. Often and very well. Music that believes that The Hold Steady are about the best band going around at the moment. Music that then says, “Mmmm, the Strokes are pretty good too.” Music that says, “hey, you look taller in real life!” Music that talks to itself.
