Distrosub

Jess Hitchcock draws inspiration for her songwriting from the resilience and grace inherited through her family origins in the Top Western Region of the Torres Strait and Papua New Guinea. Jess performs as a solo artist and has also joined forces on stage and in the studio with Paul Kelly, Archie Roach, Tina Arena and Kate Miller-Heidke. For ten years, Jess worked with Deborah Cheetham AO at Australia’s Indigenous opera company, Short Black Opera. Her roots in opera and theatre can still sometimes be heard in her songwriting and seen on special occasions in select productions. Last year Jess performed in the Bangarra Dance Theatre production of 'Wudjang: Not the Past’ and in Tina Arena’s ‘Songs My Mother Taught Me’. Next for Jess, is the release of her anticipated studio album, ‘Unbreakable’.
