Jo Hanna has been quietly working on her songwriting and performance craft in NZ and London for the past 2 years. You wouldn't think that, initially, she spent years singing in secret, all the while training as a classical clarinetist, yet too shy to take the stage as a vocalist. Since plucking up the courage to sing in public, she has played at festivals, collaborated with well known NZ musicians, and recorded an EP (under the name Jo Hanna and the Mystery) with award winning engineer Lee Prebble (The Phoenix Foundation). Recently, she has returned home to Australia to refine her sound and work on a debut solo album. Her soulfully honest music combines elements strength and fragility, and her smokey and seductive vocals, add to the depth of her unique blend of alternative, indie, and popular music genres.
