Brisbane-born John Drake is a singer-songwriter known for his layered, cinematic and melodic Songwriting. After spending over a decade as the frontman of The Dust Coda in London, John has returned to his roots, bringing with him a wealth of experience and artistic evolution. The Dust Coda made significant waves with their 2021 sophomore album Mojo Skyline, which peaked at No. 27 on the UK Albums Chart and secured No. 3 in the Rock category. In 2023, the momentum continued with their third album Loco Paradise, climbing to No. 36 in the UK and topping the Rock Albums Chart at No. 1 after a successful tour across Europe and the UK, concluding with a high-profile performance supporting Guns N’ Roses at London's Hyde Park. Their track "Demon" garnered the attention of Sir Elton John, earning airtime on his Beats 1 show Rocket Hour and a spot on the prestigious "Elton John: Loves" Spotify playlist. Solo Project: John Drake’s solo debut album, Separation Songs, has been crafted over two years, recorded between Brisbane and London. Completed in September 2024 with ARIA-winning engineer Cody McWaters and longtime friend and producer Chass Guthrie, this album draws from influences such as War on Drugs, early Tame Impala, Nick Cave, Paul Kelly, Radiohead and Bruce Springsteen, to blend introspective storytelling with sonic landscapes. Leading up to the release of Separation Songs in 2025, Drake is offering fans a glimpse with a collection of acoustic tracks in an EP titled Trial Separations. These stripped-back versions of the album’s songs showcase his intimate, raw approach to songwriting. Single Release: "Descending Love (Acoustic)" The first single from the Trial Separations EP, "Descending Love (Acoustic)", is set to release on 1st November 2024. This hauntingly beautiful track was inspired by a vivid dream experienced on a cold night in London. Drake describes the dream as “an unwritten love story,” featuring a mysterious figure he had never met but hoped to encounter. To coincide with the release, Drake will be performing at It’s Still a Secret for the 'Streets of Our Town' songwriting residency, co-hosted by ARIA Award winner Tyrone Noonan, on 7th November 2024. This performance will be a key part of his live rollout in support of the single. For Fans Of: • Nick Cave • Paul Kelly • The War on Drugs • Bruce Springsteen • Tame Impala • Radiohead
