Johnny the kid's musical adventure began with the with the purchase of a $20 character ridden guitar from a local garage sale, the cost of which was split between him and his older brother Joe. However, his love for music probably began as a little tacker while listening to family friends laughing, jamming and lets face it boozing around a camp fire. How can the mix of guitars, esky drum kits, hand clapping and the legendary spoons not inspire! Years later and a different world away Johnny was found blasting spit from a trumpet in the energetic Adelaide hip hop group A Tribe is Forming. This experience was exciting and educational, but as history would have it, a tribe was 'reforming' as was the kid's direction in music. With an explosion in writing, and an ambition to rekindle the fires of live music in the front bars of Adelaide pubs, came the launch of Johnny the Kid as a solo artist.
