Getting ahead of oneself is never recommended. Booking gigs on the premise that you have at least an hour of decent material - when in actual fact all you have is a couple of good songs - is not an intelligent choice. Asking for – and surprisingly getting - the support spot for an international touring band with only the under-prepared debacle of that first gig under your belt, is just plain daft. Johnny Vance and his newly named band, The Revolutionary Kind, have grown from that shaky start, to become a more-than-capable live act on the Sydney circuit, with a growing following. Not content with being pigeonholed, Johnny’s music has developed since his first gigs, so it now includes everything from the straight up rock of Summer Dresses, via the alt.country infused Parker Posey, to the rockabilly Johnny Cash homage All I Want, and even on to a Clash-inspired brighter touch, the aptly named Pop Life. A craftsman with lyrics, Johnny touches on a range of topics with a mix of subtlety
