The Black Bear (or Greg) is the mastermind behind Jones of Arc. Songwriter, arranger, basic production (and I mean basic). Writes all the melodies, rhythms, riffs. Performs all 'instruments', recording vocals and samples to "demo" standard. Digital piano. He "tinkers" with the keyboard but can play the bagpipes (seriously, Black Bear is a famous pipe tune). Apart from hard 70s rock he enjoys the Pipes and Drums (of course) and ragtime piano (separately!) Likes very, very little contemporary stuff, exceptions include Owl City and Rammstein. For performances he ropes in a couple of others to round out a 3-piece ensemble. Greg doesn't "do" the vocals in public. He gets guitarist mate Tom (the Woolly mammoth) to "blurt out" the lyrics and Ivan to hard-punch the pigskins. Jones of Arc is a "noise-based" lyrical and dance project that either loves to call out the World's "bullshit" or celebrate simple hedonistic living. At this stage Jones of Arc is still only a 'rough-as-guts' lounge
