Born in 1994, Josh Belperio has always loved to dance along stylistic divides – between folk and musical theatre, between pop, cabaret and classical. His recent charity music video 'Dear Malcolm Turnbull' received 200,000 views on Facebook, and raised funds for QLife Australia – a national counselling service for LGBTQI+ Australians. In June 2017, Josh combined many of his stylistic interests in the sold-out, world premiere season of his original cabaret show Scarred For Life, which opened to unanimous positive reviews at the Adelaide Cabaret Fringe Festival. In the show, Josh opens up about his catastrophic bicycle accident and subsequent hospitalisation, in such a way that was described by SceneTV as ‘raw honesty, truth and vulnerability wrapped up in song and comedy.’ To develop the show, Josh received a $2,100 Helpmann Academy grant to undergo a mentorship with Helpmann-winning cabaret artist Michael Griffiths, and Amelia Ryan, alongside singing lessons with Rosanne Hosking.
