Joshua Moshe is a saxophonist, composer, and producer with a unique musical heritage that has shaped his distinctive personal sound. He was born to a Jewish family in South Africa where his formative memories include the local style of Marabi music alongside the ancient spiritual chanting of the synagogue. Now, based in Melbourne, he is at the forefront of the city’s flourishing new wave of jazz. His genre-bending brand of future-jazz has earned him recognition as one of the leading forces of the local scene, having won the 2019 PBS Young Elder of Jazz Award and receiving a nomination for the Music Victoria Awards Best Jazz Album 2020. Until now, he has released his original music under the moniker JK GROUP which he leads, writes, and co-produces for. He was one of the early members of the neo-jazz-soul collective 30/70 for which he continues to write and perform, whilst also freelancing as one of the most in-demand saxophone players in Australia who’s credentials include collaborations with Don Glori, Jordan Rakei, Myele Manzanza, Allysha Joy, Jerome Farah, Simon Starr, Sunny Reyne, Husky, Close Counters, and more.
