Jupiter Creek are a neo-country rock band from Adelaide, South Australia. They sing original songs about gun-toting female outlaws, broken hearted truck drivers, dreams of hitting the highway for new adventures, flannelette and burning timber. Musically, Jupiter Creek draw inspiration from classic Californian country rock (Byrds, Burritos, Eagles, Emmy Lou), Texas songwriting troubadours (Willie, Flatlanders, Robert Earle Keen), and contemporary Americana (Jayhawks, Ryan Adams, Steve Earle). Blending these influences with their own song craft, Jupiter Creek sound both familiar and unique. Familiar as they have standard country rock instrumentation – pedal steel, acoustic guitar, harmonica, drums, bass and three part harmonies. Unique because their repertoire ranges from jug band hoe downs, to desert trucking highway songs; from Southern Gothic ballads about love and loss, to boot-scooting honky-tonk drinking songs. Yet the fact that Jupiter Creek exist is a matter of chance. W.
