Karlee is a self-taught guitarist and singer-songwriter from Brunswick. Her vocal style is a mix of Ella Fitzgerald jazz, Robert Johnson blues and Waifs Australiana-folk. Since playing with ex-Counterfeit Gypsies violinist Rachel she has leaned towards more gypsy and folk sounds and stories. Her lyrics are sometimes funny and she has been described as having “the cutest performance ever” by several old men. Kalimaa recorded her debut EP 'When the Bough Breaks' during May-October 2008. This was a self-funded effort and includes heaps of lovely friends playing and singing.
