Karam is a Sydney-based Maldivian singer-songwriter who describes music as her freedom personified. As a self-taught artist, Karam's ultimate goal is to tell stories with her songs that you would want to come back to even after the music stops. A little dramatism never hurt anyone; her niche is experimenting with complicated emotions, blowing them up into colourful, textured facades through lyrics and musical expression. She's been having a lot of fun injecting her favourite influences into her songwriting process, and draws inspiration from artists across genre-lines ranging from Cigarettes After Sex and Lana del Rey to Flume and Troye Sivan. Being a member of the South Asian diaspora, Karam's sound also draws from a treasure-trove of culture that often leaves her music tinted in subtle colours reminiscent of old Bollywood and other South Asian influences. Karam resides in Sydney, Australia where she makes songs on her iPad while moonlighting as a veterinary student on the sly
