Kazr is a space synth pop solo project that former Skunkhour keyboard player and award winning composer & producer Paul Searles has been working on for several years. Earlier this year Kazr’s debut album ‘Stay’ was released featuring the ethereal single ‘Tonight’, an ode to saying goodbye and letting go. “…something is strange, something is changing, particles slowly re-arranging” – Tonight Speaking about “Tonight”, Paul said, “Tonight is a song about moving on, it’s about trying to turn ideas of loss into ideas of change. Leaving your old self, leaving a bad relationship, saying goodbye to an increasingly vicious news cycle. It’s about letting go.” Paul Searles has been on incredible musical journey since the heady days of touring internationally with Skunkhour and their gold album ‘Feed’ (1992). He has composed for Film Directors such as James Cameron, and worked with famed musicians such as Bob Dylan, The Sleepy Jackson, Jenny Morris and The Reels. Paul is currently a composer and sound designer at The Gunnery in Singapore, one of Asia’s leading audio houses; and is a regular sound designer and composer with Singapore's Wild Rice Theatre Company. As a screenwriter, he won the 2016 NYC Midnight Screenwriting Challenge, and has also explored Film Directing and Production, creating videos for various charities in the region. From bitch sessions on corrupt bankers and stories of displacement, political bogeymen in dark corners, to sci fi adventures through biological systems, the album “Stay” covers a lot of ground. It is written by a screenwriter, a rewarding trip through the confusing affairs of our days. It is an album of rich organic textures that rewards a second listen.
