For the longest time, this project was a nebulous dream floating about the guitar-filled world of not-yet-Kintsugist's multiple Adelaide bands over 2004-2010. Farewelling the stage (for now) saw the dream gain form. But a sluggish decade—comprising dozens of failed-to-launch Vaporwave-adjacent projects and a handful of scattered, disparate tracks being released to the far corners of the internet—followed. Enter 2021: Having conquered isolation, having witnessed the rise of the Dreampunk community, and having put up with the general 2020ness of 2020 combined to provide new focus. Fifteen years' worth of guitar riffs, like broken pottery too meaningful to resign to the trash, were bonded together and Kintsugist was born. Every sound here within is made with a single acoustic guitar or Foley captured in the spaces it occupies. Breathe in. Breathe out. Let the gold make you whole once more.
