Melbourne polymath Kleo Caplan is the saviour that the worlds of hip-hop and pop desperately need. A queer singer/songwriter/rapper/producer of Arab-Muslim descent, Caplan has been releasing genre-shifting tracks since 2020, infusing elements of trap and pop into his musical diary, which draws inspiration from time spent living in Jordan, and nascent experiences in Australia. Entering music as a way to create and embrace new worlds, Caplan draws inspiration from the likes of Nicki Minaj, Doja Cat, and Lorde to craft sweet sonic delicacies that explode with kaleidoscopic flavour as they unfold. Having MC’d numerous events, performed atop the UKI Insect, and been the subject of the self-made documentary, Kleo Caplan: In The Making, he’s now set to take the next step of his career with his debut EP, Lost In Translation. Dubbed Lost In Translation, the EP ruminates on loss, abuse, and self-understanding, with the cathartic collection serving having been in the works for two years.
