When I was about 5 years old, I told my mother I wanted to play piano. At the time we didn’t have the money for lessons. Apparently, my mother tried to get me to play other instruments but I wasn’t interested. I wasn’t until 13 years later when my aspirations as a professional surfer were given a blow due to a serious injury, I took up guitar. I started learning classical guitar from a book. Other than that, I mostly made up my own tunes and even wrote a Bach style piece for classical guitar. I graduated to electric guitar and also began writing songs. To provide for a family and make a living I took up a career in IT. Though still I couldn’t shake the need for music in my life and still wrote songs, though less frequently and put my electric guitar in the shed for almost a decade. Years later I have cobbled together a little home studio that began half way protruding into the kitchen. I now have a spare room for it and have recorded some half decent recordings.
