Lemonise are a psychedelic pop/rock act based in Marrickville (Eora) presenting grooves inspired by the wild NSW South Coast. Lead singer and Darkinjung (GuriNgai language group) man Jake Magi incorporates Yidaki-didgeridoo drones and rhythms throughout their live show. In 2025, Lemonise played over nine music festivals, including the Ocean Stage at Yours and Owls festival, SXSW Sydney, Wallaby Creek Festival (FNQ, QLD), Coondoo Mountain Festival (QLD), King Street Crawl, Old Bar Beach Festival (headliner The Terrys), and more. In 2025, Lemonise opened for Pacific Avenue, Mahalia Barnes, VLADS, Bootleg Rascal, Charlie Pittman, Tjaka, and more. They played a total of 42 shows across 4 states. In 2026 so far, Lemonise have toured NSW with the Beddy Rays (Wollongong and Ulladulla), featured on Awesome Black’s Maito Weekender (Maitland), playing on the mainstage alongside Barkaa, and are set to open the mainstage at River Sounds in May 2026 (headliners Thundamentals and Babe Rainbow). After releasing their self-produced debut EP, Smoke Signals, in late 2025, Lemonise saw three singles played on triple j (NAIDOC Week and Late Nights) and one single on triple j unearthed. Their Spotify monthly listeners grew to 24k in late 2025 after numerous editorial playlist adds, and their EP has garnered over 110,000 streams on Spotify alone. Lemonise toured their debut EP in October 2025 with 60 tickets sold at The Tote in Melbourne, a full capacity Vic on the Park show in Sydney, and full capacity regional shows such as Crescent Head Tavern. There’s something for everyone at a Lemonise show — whether that be high-energy funk-based chops from guitarist Maya Riv and bassist Gene Griffin, Earthy didgeridoo/Yidaki drones played by First Nations songwriter and vocalist Jake Magi, entrancing rhythms played by drummer Morgan Monk, or heartfelt words about creating music in bucolic bliss — the band take their audience with them on a sonic journey through the wild South Coast, a place of inspiration for the band and birthplace of their song. In 2025, the band spent two weeks in an isolated cabin near Cunjurong Point, NSW writing and recording in a DIY setup, and went on to release these recordings as a heartfelt meditation on a dying love for the Earth --- their debut EP, Smoke Signals. Lemonise invite their live audience to feel small in a vast world and lose themselves in elemental groove.
