LILY & KING are an acoustic junkyard - blissful, beautiful, dirty and wicked. They play hot Dixieland punk dotted with haunting seaside lullabies and street corner stomp. Their set sits somewhere between a captivating 40's nightclub routine and the raw, reckless spirit of New Orleans street buskers. With a toy piano, squashed trombone, banjo, violin, half a drum kit and one old guitar, a Lily & King show is a wild and joyful experience. Lily (Lisa Baird) took up trombone as an easy way to meet dysfunctional men, and she was indeed richly rewarded in her pursuits. She’s been playing music since she was three years old and completed a Degree in Serious Music Performance at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, where for six years she never failed to disappoint her lecturers with her bad technique, bare feet and love of the pop music.
