Linda Joy started performing as a 15 year-old doing solo singer-songwriter sets on piano or guitar in her home town of Wellington. She studied at the New Zealand School of Music and has since played in a range of bands varying from Free Jazz to Motown and many of the spaces in between. Currently based in Melbourne, Linda is now interested in stretching the somewhat restrictive singer/songwriter genre to make room for her solo arrangements combining elements of Jazz, Blues, Downbeat, Drum n Bass and Rock with voice and poetic imagery. In 2011 she released an independent full-length album titled ‘Wellingtron’ and is working on the next… She likes to perform acoustic with a looping pedal and recycled instruments.
