Redfish Bluefish and Linoleum flirted with airplay in the 1990's and early 2000's. We spent far too much of our time and money following our musical dreams, as you do. Gid (Gerard Neil) and I were the core of Redfish Bluefish; Linoleum was my later band that he guested with from time to time, mostly in the studio. My friend Gid died last week. "Icarus Undone" is one of the only two times that Gid and I co-wrote a song, and is the last time we played together. He wrote the beautiful guitar part and brought it to Redfish Bluefish band practice one day; I instantly hijacked it with a melody that seemed to have always been there and we worked the whole song up that way: Gid providing the chords and me supplying a melody on top. Years later, when I was recording the first Linoleum album, I asked Gid if he minded me including this song as it had always been one of my favourites.
