Four mates from the Central Coast north of Sydney formed Lion Island in October 2016. Reared on the distortion and fuzz of 80‘s and 90's indie rock, their sound is underpinned by catchy and hooky songwriting in the tradition of great Aussie pub bands. Think Dinosaur Jr, Pixies, Weezer and The Replacements with the Sunnyboys thrown in for good measure. Having racked up several gigs between Newcastle, Sydney and Wollongong since their formation including supports for Jebediah and The Living End, the lads brought out their first recording, the 3 track single My Girlfriend's Dead, launching the disc over a series of gigs up and down the coast. Next up is their debut 5 track EP, Everybody Sux, to be launched over the course of a couple of shows in Newcastle and Sydney.
