Sydney June 2010A lot can happen in six months. For Lions At Your Door, the past six months have marked a significant change. Not only has the Sydney sextet released its debut EP, toured the country, lost a member, gained a member, played the summer festivals, been picked up by one of the biggest booking agencies in the country and had a much deserved mini-holiday, they've also managed to write a slew of new material in between. “We took a family holiday to the mountains, locked ourselves up in a cottage with a bunch of local produce and just wrote. We'd wake, eat and write. It was a fantastic experience,” says lead singer Marihuzka Larenas-Esquivel. The result of their self-imposed confinement seemed to be a new found direction in sound. “We didn't set out to write different material. It happened very organically. We had a bunch of ideas we wanted to develop and the result was six songs that all sound quite different to any other LAYD material.” And the band couldn't be happier.
