Loryn Taggart - singer, songwriter, performer, world traveler, blogger, student — she hasn’t wasted her youth. Raised in a small Prairie town, with Hungarian immigrant roots, picking out her first tune on the family piano by ear, aged five, and writing her first song when she was nine. Piano lessons, guitar lessons, and hours of practice; this is a withdrawn kid, determined to be better and better. Her first music business conference in Toronto — a city she’s now had a long hate/love relationship with, she showcased at the age of 14 landing a headlining gig at the hipper-than-thou Drake Hotel, a contact with a hotshot promoter, and off to LA, home of the stars and centre of the universe to work on a demo for an album. New opportunities keep opening — a year and a half playing keyboards and singing with a better-than-usual Toronto-based bar band called CANVAS.
