Separately Dylan Norris and Emma Jene are from different sides of the musical spectrum, but put them together and they acutely blend a mix of blues, country and alternative rock. The pair from New South Wales’ South Coast have spent much of the past year preparing for their debut album, due to be released later this year. Lead single ‘Be Gentle With My Mind’, released Friday March 18 2022, sets the tone for the LP which touches on both strength and vulnerability whilst also using their voice to spread the power of positive messaging. It is a power passion for the pair in their song-writing process. “‘Be Gentle With My Mind’ is about poisoning one’s mind with negative imagery of who they are as person from doubt that others brought upon them,” says Dylan. Certainly a common influence in today’s day and age that would make the track highly relatable for many. The pair, who are partnered in both life as a couple and in music, met through a mutual friend. “I was looking for a guitarist to travel and explore new avenues in music with,” says Emma. “We both met and got talking in Gerrigong at a hillside café and started working together, seeing a lot of each other and before we knew it our relationship naturally progressed in so love, and so Love & Able was born. Having first started out at age six in musical theatre, Emma holds an impressive resume as a solo Country music singer having released three albums, her latest in September 2019, titled ‘Erosion’. It debuted the ARIA Australian Album chart at #6 and furthermore became a Top 40 entry in the ARIA Country Albums Chart. The album’s lead single, ‘Feels So Good’, garnered impressive radio airplay peaking at the top of the Country Songs Top 40 Australian Airplay chart where is stayed for eight consecutive weeks. Emma has also been highly applauded by Country singer-songwriter, Amber Lawrence, as an artist that “sings with heart and emotion”. Emma has continued to add to her accolades in Country Music. She was named National Female Artist of the Year in 2019 at the Tasmanian Independent Country Music Awards, and also having been rewarded for her community work with a New South Wales Parliament House Certificate of Appreciation for entertainment presented by the then Premier, Gladys Berejiklian. Dylan strummed his first guitar at age five having been taught the skill through his Grandfather. He continued to hone the skill through the years, today even sharing his experience by conducting workshops for other aspiring artists. By High School he was performing in bands including White Cedar, The Talkers, and The Midnight Tides that saw him tour across the country. He also developed an ear for music production, studying sound production professionally. “We complement each other musically in the different genres we bring together and made it our own,” says Emma. And so 2022 sets an exciting new path for the pair with planned performances in the US music capitals like Nashville, New Orleans, New York and Texas already on the cards for later this year.
