Pop-punk has always been considered a ‘fun’ genre. It’s seen as an energetic style of expressive punk and has never really been taken seriously. It is perceived as a style played by teens who sing about girls and insert as much profanity into their party-fuelled lyrics as possible. If fun is your first priority then it’s hard to be taken seriously, but on the flip-side, just because you approach music seriously doesn’t mean you can’t have fun. That’s exactly what Perth’s LOWLIGHT plan on proving as they set out to introduce themselves to the nation as pop-punk’s hardest working acts, while still ensuring that they have fun along the way. LOWLIGHT started the same way many Perth bands start, with members meeting through previous bands who all shared the local stages together. Some of these bands take flight and some of these bands stay grounded, but you can rest assured that those individuals who are dedicated to their craft will forge ahead and create something new out of the ashes
