My name is Lucy Rasheed and I am an actress/singer/ song writer and have been living in London for the last five years. I’m originally from a property in Outback South Australia and I grew up listening to Bob Dylan, Jonny Cash and the Waifs. Last year I went independently and taught a self devised drama program to ex child soldiers and orphans in Sri Lanka. I was so frustrated by some of the injustices I saw there that it inspired me to start writing an album called Blood is Red. When I returned to the UK I worked with Al Verey, a fantastic musician and we composed these tunes, in a back room of a cottage in the middle of Wales. My favourite song is ‘Louder’, which is about a bird trying to get someone’s attention from a tree. I think this reflects the situation for allot of young people in society today and how you just have to keep getting ‘Louder’ until you get your get noticed in the creative world. I hope you enjoy these three tunes ‘Louder’; ‘Blood is Red’, and ‘Anna’s Song’.
