Alex Dodge a.k.a Lucy the Ape is a Melbourne based artist, whose music reflects her experience of the natural world. Whilst studying conservation biology at university, her experience in music and creativity has inspired her to elaborate on her passions in a musical fashion. The nature of her music is somewhat mesmerising, and versatile. 'Lucy the Ape' is a reference to the 3.2 million-year-old female ape named 'Lucy', perhaps the world's most famous fossil. Though her remains are approximately 40% complete, Lucy is the first Australopithecus afarensis skeleton ever found. Lucy is significant to Lucy the Ape's identity as she connects her to a primitive past, that of an instinctual, innate quality.
